Chico, CA Wedding Photographer | The Zombie Apocalypse

The idea was far from original.  I'll happily admit that!  But after falling madly in love with a particular zombie TV show I dreamed up the idea to one day do a Zombie Apocalypse-themed photo session.  So when Desi contacted me about her engagement session I thought "PERFECT!".  I just had to get her to go for it.

Go for it, she did.  Immediately I convinced her that having a Zombie Apocalypse themed engagement session was an AMAZING idea.  She got her fiance on board and the date was set for early August.

Then I started talking to Alicia about her senior session.  She was interested in having her senior session at the same location as Desi and Cody's engagement session and was interested in scheduling it for roughly the same time.  That got my brain ticking.  I contacted everyone involved to see if they would be willing to share their session and have a double themed session.  Desi and Cody would be the innocent bystanders who got attacked by Zombies, only to be saved by their own strong will to survive and a Zombie Destroying Warrior Goddess!

Everyone loved the idea.  I seriously love my clients.  Have I ever mentioned that before?

So on August 4th we all awoke to... pouring rain.  The evening before a crazy storm had rolled through and the world was damp.  That didn't stop us, in fact the dark and dreary weather really added to the "mood" of the shoot.  We got a little wet but it was all worth it.

I especially have to thank my zombies.  We started off with nine volunteers, fell to seven at the start of the session, and ended with just five.  But all were amazing!   Also a HUGE thank you to Maja Kalstrom who did a lot of the make-up for our zombies (with a few exceptions who did their own make-up).  You did an amazing job, Maja, and I cannot thank you enough for helping out.

Funny side note: Maja is horrified of zombies and couldn't stay to watch the session because they freaked her out!

Another side note: The schedule for the day called for some scenes on horseback and even some archery shots (you know I love my archery!).  Unfortunately, due to the weather and time constraints brought on from several weather delays we had to nix both of those scenes.  I do wish we could have captured this session as it had originally been planned because it would have been AMAZING!  But I still think it came out pretty memorable for all involved.

Third side note: The zombies involved an international cast of players!  One zombie came to use from England, another from Australia, and a third from Switzerland!  They had come to America to work at the summer camp we shot this session at.  Little did they know that after they journeyed to America a bunch of crazy people would make them zombies...

Alright, enough chat.  Onto the Zombie Apocalypse!!!

The day started out just lovely for Desi and Cody as they posed lovingly in front of the cross where they will be saying their "I Dos" in just a few short months... It turned into the scene out of a nightmare... or a really corny comedy...
 They got away!...
 But not for long!...
Along came the Zombie Killing Warrior Goddess!...
