A Hard Farewell

On March 22nd I created THIS POST featuring my beautiful Grandmother Joanne and the portraits I took of her over Christmas.  Little did I know that less then one month after creating this post, and less then four months after taking these pictures I would see my Grandmother for the last time, at her funeral.

It's hard to believe that such a wonderful, vibrant, loving person is gone.  My Grandma passed away in Rochester, MN on April 17th, 2012.  21 years and a day after her husband, my Grandpa Bud, passed away at the same hospital.  We are blessed in that the family had enough advanced notice that almost everyone except the out of town family members (such as myself) were able to be by her bedside when she passed away.

I have so much to thank my Grandma for.  She gave us many great memories and created a wonderful and beautiful family.  She had 6 children, 12 grandchildren, and 14 (and a half) great grandchildren.  The last known image taken of Grandma was a shot of her holding her 14th grandchild, little Hailey, just a few weeks before she passed.

The world lost a wonderful woman on April 17th.  Everyone who knew her will miss her dearly.
